Turn pages
Turn pages by tapping or swiping. Tap the right third or swipe left to go forward; tap the left third or swipe right to go back. Tap the centre to show the controls.
Scroll the text
In an EPUB or FB2 book, drag two fingers up or down to scroll continuously. When you let go, the text settles onto whole lines.
Show and hide the controls
Tap the centre of the screen to show the reader controls: an action bar at the top and a navigation slider at the bottom. The action bar lets you bookmark the current page, search the book, or open the main menu. Tap the centre again on the text to hide the controls.
You don’t have to hide the controls to keep reading: the left and right zones still turn pages while the controls are visible.
Move through the book
Drag the slider along the bottom to move anywhere in the book. As you drag, it shows your page and the chapter you're in, so you can aim.
The ‹ and › arrows jump to the previous or next chapter. The number beside an arrow shows how many pages the jump covers.
Go back, and history
Links, the slider, chapter arrows, Contents, and bookmarks can all take you away from your current position. After a jump, a Return to previous position pill appears. Tap it to go back, or tap × to dismiss it.
The ↩ button on the slider also goes back one step. The history button (the clock) opens a Return to… list so you can choose an earlier position.
Links and footnotes
Tap a link in the text to jump to wherever it points. To come straight back afterwards, use the return pill or the ↩ button.
Tap a footnote mark — like [1c] — and DinoReader first shows the note in a small window without leaving your current position. If the note leads to a longer passage, tap More… to follow it; use return or history to come back.
Contents and bookmarks
Contents
Tap the centre of the reading screen to show the controls, open the main menu, choose Contents, then tap a chapter to open it.
On a phone, Contents opens full-screen. On a tablet or larger device, it opens in a panel while the reading page remains visible.
A chapter selection is a jump, so your previous reading position remains available through return and history.
Bookmarks
Show the controls and tap the bookmark button in the action bar to add a bookmark at your current position. Tap it again to remove that bookmark.
To open a saved bookmark, choose Bookmarks from the main menu, then select a position from the list. Bookmarks is disabled until you add your first bookmark.
On a phone, Bookmarks opens full-screen. On a tablet or larger device, it opens in a panel beside the reading page. After jumping to a bookmark, use return or history to go back.
Reading a PDF
A PDF keeps its fixed pages — the text doesn't reflow to fit the screen — so a few things work differently from EPUB and FB2 books.
Turn pages the same way: tap the right third or swipe left to go forward; tap the left third or swipe right to go back. Tap the centre for the controls.
Zoom by pinching with two fingers — spread to zoom in, pinch to zoom out.
Move around a zoomed page by dragging with one finger, once you're zoomed in.
Two-finger scrolling is for EPUB and FB2 books. A PDF page doesn't reflow, so you zoom and pan instead.
The slider, chapter jumps, and go back and history work in PDFs too.
